Why this species was chosen

The mangrove ecosystem perform indispensable ecological functions such as protecting beaches and coastlines from storm surges, sediments stabilization, reduction of soil erosion, water quality maintenance, and provides nursery and breeding habitats for a wealth of marine, aquatic, and terrestrial life.


Our story

As part of the OISCA CFP - Ajuy National High School's Green Wave Campaign, an environmental education was conducted with about 100 participants in attendance. A mangrove planting was conducted where 100 participants planted 5,000 Mangrove (Bungalon) Ajuy National High is located at Barangay San Antonio, Ajuy, Iloilo. The faculty and staff including the students are very much supportive of government and Non-government Organization's environmental projects and programs. These include the ecological solid waste and the greening program. The school conducts tree planting both in upland and coastal areas. Ajuy National High School is a CFP participating school and joined the 50th anniversary of OISCA International last august 2011 at Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Students from Ajuy National High School were always invited to help the tree planting activities of the local government unit of Ajuy. The students are partners of the LGU and other non-government organization on environmental projects and initiatives.
