Why this species was chosen

We have chosen mahogany to plant because it is suitable at the school backyard and it will give cool air and shade when fully grown. Mahogany has a generally straight grain and is usually free of voids and pockets. The properties of Mahogany can make a favorable wood for crafting cabinets and furnitures.

Our story

Bayawan City Science Elementary School has been in operation since 2005, the concept of which is parallel to that of the establishment of the Bayawan City Science & Technology Education Center. It is located in Cabcabon, Banga, Bayawan City with land area of almost 2 hectares. This educational institute has a teaching force of 7 catering to 164 gifted students. Bayawan City Science Elementary School follows the Lapu-lapu Science Technology Education Center curriculum of Lapu-lapu City, Cebu. OISCA Children’s Forest Program was launched in our school in 2009, and this is the first time that the school joins the Green Wave Campaign. The worldwide tree planting activity known as the Green Wave will boost the interest of the pupils to love nature, preserve and protect the environment and improve biodiversity.
