Why this species was chosen
It is the national tree of the Philippines, The hard wood, which is purplish, is termite resistant and rose-scented. the flower is used as a honey source while leaf infusions are used as shampoos. both flowers and leaves were said to be eaten .the leaves are supposedly good for waxing and polishing brass and copper. the tree is recommended as an ornamental tree for avenues and sometimes planted for shade
Our story
The participants came from different public and private schools of Abra. we conducted meetings to convince or invite schools to participate on the greenwave program, we agreed that due to the problem that school dont have an area the venue then is at the OISCA Abra Agro-Forestry and Industrial Training Center, Mudiit, Dolores, Abra. 7:00 AM of May 22,2012 participants from Lagben primary school/ASIST/Heart of Mary high school/Rosalio eduarte national high sch/Bilabila Elementary sch/Abas national high sch/Naguilian elementary school and Divine word college of Bangued arrived to participate on the said program.
Welcome program was done and followed by treeplanting and watering the plants, we close with a short meeting to plan how to maintain or who will manage the after care, with snacks. the seedlings was from the oisca training center.
