The Green Wave is a campaign of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
It contributes to the Convention’s Programme of Work on Communication, Education and Public Awareness, as well as the International Year of Biodiversity and the International Year of Youth.
The Green Wave was initiated by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation working with the Office of Environmental Response and Coordination (OERC) of the Republic of Palau.
With support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the Government of Spain and Environment Canada, The Green Wave is co-ordinated by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The Green Wave contributes to the educational and outreach objectives of the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA), established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Joining the UNEP-led Billion Tree Campaign, trees planted in The Green Wave contribute to the global action and target of the Billion Tree Campaign.
We invite others to join us and support the most important partners in The Green Wave: the children and youth taking part.
